About Candi Staton
In 1968 Candi Stanton began her solo career as a soul stylist from South, creating 16 R&B hits for Rick Hall's legendary Fame Studios and getting the rank of First Lady of Southern Soul for her R&B renditions of the country tunes "Stand by Your Man" and "In the Ghetto", which were nominated on Grammy. In 1975 Staton saw, that Southern soul began its falling out of fashion and she started cooperating with Dave Crawford, a producer who made her a disco diva with dance songs like "Young Hearts Run Free" and "Victim."
